Free Healthy Eating Game for Kids: Teach Through Play
September 22, 2026
Explaining "vegetables are good for you" usually goes nowhere. The child listens, nods… and still has no idea what, exactly, that broccoli is doing in there. Nutrition is an abstract topic — and that's exactly where play helps.
So we built a free little game: Build a Healthy Body. The child drags foods into the right group and watches, right away, the body gaining energy, muscle and protection. No quiz, no memorizing — just play.
The 3 groups every kid should know
It's the same way school teaches it in science class, and it's this simple:
- •⚡ Energy foods — rice, bread, potato, banana, honey. They're the fuel to run, play and pay attention in class.
- •🧱 Body builders — meat, eggs, beans, milk, fish. They build muscle, bone and organs — the "bricks" of a growing body.
- •🛡️ Regulators — fruits, vegetables, water. They regulate how the body works and help protect it from illness.
There's a second layer the game also teaches: where each food comes from — animal origin (meat, eggs, milk), plant origin (fruits, vegetables, grains), or mineral origin (water, salt).
Now, explained the way a kid understands it
You can read this part together with your child, or let them read it on their own.
Your body is like a little house being built. And to be finished, it needs three things:
First, it needs energy, like gasoline, so you have the strength to run, jump and play all day without getting tired. That comes from rice, bread, potato, banana.
Then, it needs bricks, to build your muscles and make your bones strong, so you can grow. That comes from meat, eggs, beans, milk.
And finally, it needs a shield, to protect the little house from sickness and keep everything working right. That comes from fruits, vegetables and water.
Foods also have a "family" they come from: some are born from animals (meat, eggs, milk — animal origin), others grow from soil and plants (fruits, vegetables, rice, beans — plant origin), and some come straight from nature, not a plant or an animal (water and salt — mineral origin).
A truly healthy body uses a little bit of every group — never just one.
How to play
- 1.A skeleton shows up on screen, waiting to become a person.
- 2.Below it, a table full of mixed-up foods — none of them sorted yet, that's for you to decide.
- 3.Drag each food up to the right box: energy foods, body builders or regulators.
- 4.Got it right? The food is kept and the body gains that little piece (energy, muscle, or skin/face). Got it wrong? No problem, it goes back to the table and you try again.
- 5.Complete all 3 groups and the body is ready — with clothes, a smile and sparkles — and you earn up to 3 stars.

Why this is worth playing
When a child drags the food instead of just picking a multiple-choice answer, they test, get it wrong, try again — and that "trying again without fear of being wrong" is exactly what makes learning stick. Watching the game's own body take shape in real time makes something concrete that, explained only in words, is too abstract for a young child.
This game is the first in a series of educational activities we're building into Tick Kids — alongside the tasks and routines your family already manages there.
